How has the belief the a spouse murdered their marriage mate contributed to the increase of divorce?

I have always wondered that since Susan Smith and someone told me that was more likely the case that family were more likely to kill each other, in this case between husband and wife. Why? We have one of the world's leading rates of divorce. Susan Smith's husband divorced her. A few years later, more and more people came to believe this. This is just an example.How has the belief the a spouse murdered their marriage mate contributed to the increase of divorce?
People kill because they seek control. In cases like OJ where the marriage ends sue to divorce and the spouse moves on then divorce can be what some refer to as a triggering event. ';If I can't have you, then no one can.';

This is thankfully a rare situation and these people were dangerous before divorce. The issue for them is a loss of control not the marriage.

The numbers of divorce have remains fairly steady for many years.

just under 50% of first marriages fail

72% of second marriage fail

83% of third marriage fail

91% of fourth marriages fail.

Divorce within society because more common as it became more acceptable. There is a casual relationship to both spouses working. Step family issues are the number one reason for failure in all but first marriages. The non-fault divorces unquestionably accelerated the process.How has the belief the a spouse murdered their marriage mate contributed to the increase of divorce?
